Candle Safety and Burning Tips
Here are some candle safety and burning tips to help ensure that your Sisters' Country Creations handmade soy candle will give you the maximum burning time and burn with virtually no black soot in the safest manner possible.
CANDLE SAFETY
1. Do not leave burning candles unattended.
2. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
3. Remove all fabric, tags, ribbons, cellophane and other decorations before burning.
4. Keep away from any flammable materials.
5. Do not burn jar candles all the way to the bottom. The jar may crack. Our candles generally stop burning when the soy wax reaches about 1/4" remaining in the jar.
6. Do not move the candle when it is burning, the jar will get hot.
SOY CANDLE BURNING TIPS
1. After burning your candle for the first time, your wick should be trimmed to 1/4" in order to keep the very tip of the wick from forming a "ball". Keeping that cluster off of the top of the wick will allow the flame to burn better and cleaner. If you accidentally trim your wick too short, and you find that the candle is burning itself out...don't panic. Simply, pour a little of the melted wax that was extinguishing your flame into a cupcake paper. That should take care of that.
2. The melted wax is what gives off the most scent. Burn candles approximately 3 - 4 hours to produce a fair amount of melted wax.
3. Do not burn them in a drafty place, as this may cause the candle to burn unevenly.
4. To prevent smoking when extinguished, gently bend the wick into the wax pool to extinguish it instead of blowing it out. After dipping the wick into the melted wax, gently straighten it up again for its next burning time.
5. Experiment with your candle location. Depending on the airflow of your home, your candle may be EVEN MORE affective at different locations and may produce the wonderful welcoming aroma in areas you wouldn't have imagined it could!!!
